Today is the last day of 12 Days of Christmas, and I am sharing some adorable gift journals. My friend stampwithbrenda and I have been having so much fun sharing a ton of creative ideas with you! I hope you have been checking out her amazing projects over at Stamps and Stretchy Pants.
Let’s face it, we always need cute last minute gifts, and these are perfect! They come together in a snap, and you can use any designer series paper to customize them for your recipient. The monogram accent is a personal touch, and if you don’t want a monogram, you could add a stamped or die cut element instead.
The base for the journal is a standard composition notebook. I stock up on these at back-to-school time, when you can readily find them in the school supply section just about anywhere. And they are inexpensive.
You can get them in any color, and cover them with designer series paper. It’s a great way to showcase beautiful papers in any print or color. For each journal, you need two coordinating sheets, a coordinating color of cardstock, and whatever accent pieces or monogram you would like.
I like adding a monogram for a personal touch. This journal features the new Alphabet A La Mode dies in the new catalog launching in January – I can’t wait to use these more!
To Create Your Gift Journal:
- for the front, cut a 7″ x 9 3/4″ piece of designer series paper
- for the back, cut an 8 1/2″ x 9 3/4″ piece of coordinating designer series paper
- coordinating cardstock to die cut trim piece
- monogram of your choice
Adhere designer series paper to the front of the journal. Adhere designer series paper to the back, wrapping around binding, and overlapping with front piece. Trim corners, or along edge as needed. Die cut an edge scalloped strip using the Penned Flowers Dies and adhere along pattern edge on front near binding. Punch a circle from designer series paper pattern used on the back, with the Decorative Circle Punch. Layer with a Wonderful Snowflake die cut. Add a letter for monogram die cut from coordinating cardstock. To finish it off, tie a ribbon bow around the cover.
Look At This!
How cool is this! The ribbon tied around the cover doubles as a page marker! Such a cool feature! To use it, slide your pages under the ribbon on the inside front cover.
Thank You!

Thanks Brenda! They are so super easy, and I am a list girl, so I always have journals laying around to keep me on task. Sometimes I just make them for myself. 😊
