Color Fusers February 2023 Ballet Beauty

Welcome back for another Color Fusers color challenge where I am sharing how to create a card that looks like a tutu using the Ballet Beauty stamp set, Basic Border dies and silver metallic ribbon.

I am fortunate to have some lovely ladies in my life who love ballet. So when I saw the stamp set Ballet Beauty in the January-April 2023 Mini Catalog, I thought it would be really fun to create with it! So I challenged myself to make a card that might represent their love for ballet.

Nothing represents ballet more than a tutu! So I wanted to create a background which pulled in various aspects. To start, I pulled in music by embossing the front layer with the Merry Melody 3D Embossing Folder. To create the skirt, I used the Border Basics dies to soften the lines and create a rounded edge. Finally, gathering Metallic Mesh Ribbon along that edge added the perfect accent to represent the skirt.

Ballerina Beauty

A ballerina focal point was created by stamping the ballerina before adding watercolored accents and coloring the dress with Wink of Stella. It was then all die cut with the Stylish Shapes and Layering Circles die sets.

To create this project:

  • 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ Balmy Blue card base, scored at 4 1/4″
  • 4″ x 5 1/4″ Balmy Blue layer, die cut bottom edge then emboss
  • Basic White piece large enough to die cut focal point
  • Balmy Blue piece large enough to layer behind white layer

Stamp slippers along bottom edge of card base in Versamark ink. Apply adhesive along bottom edge of embossed layer. Add Metallic Mesh Ribbon to adhesive, gathering as you go. Adhere layer to card front with dimensionals. Stamp ballerina in Calypso Coral ink. Watercolor with Pale Papaya ink, then die cut circle with the Stylish Shapes dies. Die cut a scalloped circle one size larger from Balmy Blue cardstock using the Layering Circle dies. Adhere together, and add to card front with dimensionals. Add Wink of Stella as desired. Heat emboss a silver sentiment and add to card front. Finish with Basic Rhinestones.

Thank You

Color Fusers January 2023 Around the Bend

Thanks for joining the Color Fusers blog hop where I am sharing a project made with the Around the Bend bundle and the Sale-a-bration 2023 Favored Flowers Designer Series Paper.

The Around the Bend Bundle is new from the January – April 2023 Mini Catalog which launches January 5th. New catalog launches are always so exciting! And the annual Stampin’ Up! Sale-A-Bration promotion starts next week, too! Who doesn’t like to earn free gifts with purchase?!

I love how the dies in this bundle allow you to easily make creative edges and card fronts on your projects. This set has different options, and the stamps coordinate perfectly to work with the card edge. On this project, notice how the dots and strip align perfectly with the die cut edge!

Color Fusers January 2023 project made with the Around the Bend Bundle and Saleabration 2023 Favored Flowers Designer Series Paper, heat embossing and Gold Faceted adhesive backed sequins. Card designed and created by Melanie Hockin of Mel's Inky Fingers.

This decorative border is accented by adding a layer of designer series paper on the inside of the card. Not only does it help the scalloped edge pop, but it showcases this beautiful Favored Flowers Designer Series Paper. This paper collection can be earned as a gift with purchase starting January 5th.

In addition to the edge dies, this die set has awesome accent pieces. I created this flowers using a floral die with Rich Razzleberry cardstock, and one of the leaf dies with Designer Series Paper.

To Create This Card:

  • make a 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ Thick Basic White card base scored at 4 1/4″
  • cut a 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ layer of designer series paper for inside the card
  • die cut a flower and leaves from scraps of cardstock and designer series paper

Die cut a decorative front edge using the Around the Bend dies. Stamp coordinating edge in Versamark ink, and heat emboss with Gold Embossing Powder. Die cut flower with Rich Razzleberry cardstock, and leaves from designer series paper. Add a large gold sequin for flower center, and top with a gold cord bow. Scatter gold sequins around flower. Bend sentiment stamp to coordinate with embossed edge, and stamp sentiment in Granny Apple Green ink.
