Welcome back for another Color Fusers color challenge where I am sharing how to create a card that looks like a tutu using the Ballet Beauty stamp set, Basic Border dies and silver metallic ribbon.

I am fortunate to have some lovely ladies in my life who love ballet. So when I saw the stamp set Ballet Beauty in the January-April 2023 Mini Catalog, I thought it would be really fun to create with it! So I challenged myself to make a card that might represent their love for ballet.

Nothing represents ballet more than a tutu! So I wanted to create a background which pulled in various aspects. To start, I pulled in music by embossing the front layer with the Merry Melody 3D Embossing Folder. To create the skirt, I used the Border Basics dies to soften the lines and create a rounded edge. Finally, gathering Metallic Mesh Ribbon along that edge added the perfect accent to represent the skirt.

Ballerina Beauty

A ballerina focal point was created by stamping the ballerina before adding watercolored accents and coloring the dress with Wink of Stella. It was then all die cut with the Stylish Shapes and Layering Circles die sets.

To create this project:

  • 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ Balmy Blue card base, scored at 4 1/4″
  • 4″ x 5 1/4″ Balmy Blue layer, die cut bottom edge then emboss
  • Basic White piece large enough to die cut focal point
  • Balmy Blue piece large enough to layer behind white layer

Stamp slippers along bottom edge of card base in Versamark ink. Apply adhesive along bottom edge of embossed layer. Add Metallic Mesh Ribbon to adhesive, gathering as you go. Adhere layer to card front with dimensionals. Stamp ballerina in Calypso Coral ink. Watercolor with Pale Papaya ink, then die cut circle with the Stylish Shapes dies. Die cut a scalloped circle one size larger from Balmy Blue cardstock using the Layering Circle dies. Adhere together, and add to card front with dimensionals. Add Wink of Stella as desired. Heat emboss a silver sentiment and add to card front. Finish with Basic Rhinestones.
