It’s Color Fusers blog hop time where I am sharing a simple card created with the Phrases For All stamp set and a watercolored background.
This is a great fall color combination, and I love the artistic vibe the watercolored background creates on this project.
Watercolor Backgrounds
Watercolor backgrounds are a quick way to add interest to your card. You may add the color to several different types of papers, however I prefer Shimmery White or Basic White Cardstock. This project uses Thick Basic White cardstock.
This background was created with minimal water. I simply moistened the paper just a little, then added straight lines of color with a Water Painter. It dries looking like straight steaks of color!
Finishing It Off
I wanted a bold sentiment to create a focal point, and the Phrases For All stamp set was perfect! It features the Metallics Embossing Powder. It comes as a set with Copper, Gold and Silver. I used the Copper.
When I trimmed down the watercolored layer, I saved the thin strips of paper. I used several of these strips tied together in a knot to create a fun tassel look as an accent.
The stamp set provides several small scale sentiment stamps. Since they are too small really to stand on their own inside the card, I decided to stamp repeatedly on an angle inside. This also provides an unexpected fun surprise when opened.
Make This Card
Cajun Craze card base cut 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″
Die cut layer of Cajun Craze using the largest Deckled Rectangle Die
Basic White watercolored layer trimmed down just small enough to fit on die cut layer
Vellum Cardstock layer just large enough for sentiment of choice
Die cut layer of Very Vanilla using the largest Deckled Rectangle Die
Create the watercolored layer. Trim down just enough to fit on die cut layer. Adhere layers together and add to card base with dimensionals. Save thin strips of trimmings. Tie several together in a knot. Trim ends and set aside. Heat emboss sentiment with Copper embossing powder. Trim vellum and add to card front with dimensionals. Add paper knot with a glue dot. Finish with Wild Wheat In Color Dots. Add Very Vanilla layer inside card. Stamp inside sentiment on a diagonal in one corner repeatedly in Cajun Craze ink.
