Welcome to the September Color Fusers blog hop where I am sharing a cool coloring technique and the Winterly Tree Tops Bundle launching this week in the Holiday Catalog!
I have to admit, this color challenge was just that – a challenge! So I jumped right in, and decided to go with a Crumb Cake base. From there, I decided how I would elevate the colors. One of my favorite coloring techniques is Wink of Stella coloring, so I channeled my inner Picasso, and went for it!
The browns in the challenge lent themselves nicely for something natural, like animals, or the birds from the Winterly Tree Tops Bundle. This set is really beautiful, and will be released this week with the launch of the Holiday Catalog on the 4th! With this somewhat monochromatic color scheme, I focused on building texture, with an embossed background, and added die cut elements.
Did you notice the embossed background? This is the Birch 3D Embossing Folder. It is part of the Nests of Winter Suite, which includes the Winterly Tree Tops Bundle. Both become available this week with the launch of the September – December 2024 Holiday Catalog on Wednesday!
Easy Coloring Technique
Coloring with Wink of Stella is one of the easiest coloring techniques! Wink of Stella is a pen with shimmery liquid. You can pick up any color ink with the tip and color your image like it’s a paint brush! It’s so cool. This creates the look of colored shimmer on your project. You can blend colors, and layer the color for detail. It really is like playing Picasso!
To Create the Project
- Crumb Cake card base: 4 1/4″ x 8 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″ for a square card
- Embossed front layer: 4″ x 4″ embossed with the Birch 3D Embossing Folder
- Die cut elements: Crumb Cake Cardstock
Adhere the embossed layer to card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Stamp bird image in Pecan Pie ink. Color with Crumb Cake ink using a Wink of Stella Glitter Brush. Add details with Pecan Pie and Crushed Curry ink. Color berries with Crushed Curry ink. Die cut with coordinating die. Die cut multiple leaves. Adhere birds with Stampin’ Dimensionals, add leaves. Stamp sentiment in Pecan Pie ink. Fussy cut and adhere with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Embellish with gems and a bow.
