Melanie Hockin Banner

American flag card made with Regals Painted Patterns Designer Series Paper, Soft Waves 3D Embossing Folder and Wonderful Stars Puffy Stickers Embellishments. Card designed and created by Melanie Hockin of Mel's Inky Fingers for the 250th birthday of the United States.

Happy Birthday America, and thanks for checking in today! I have created these simple but patriotic American flag cards today by simply using Designer Series Paper to create the flag.

As the country celebrates with summer fun, barbeques, ice cream and fireworks, I took a bit of time to create this fun project as my way to celebrate. The Designer Series Paper does it all. Really!

The Painted Patterns Designer Series Paper was perfect for this project. This paper collection comes in 6 different color options, including for each color family offered in our color line. There are 4 different patterns in each pack, each in multiple colors…a double sided stripe and a double sided dot.

I am sharing the same project made with both sides of the striped sheet in Real Red. Both sides offer great possibilities.

This paper collection is remarkable, and one of the first things I purchase with each catalog. Each color family contains 2 sheets of each color in the color family, making it a staple in my crafting. It provides a patterned paper option in every color! And each year, the patterns change making it really fun. This year, a new color option was added, the Basics collection. This contains Basic Black, Basic Beige and Very Vanilla. Perfect when you need a patterned neutral option, and great for stamping on a print!

And how about these cool stars?! I overlooked them for the longest time, and now they are my go-to embellishment. They couldn’t be more perfect for this card!
