Thanks for joining us for the Color Fusers April 2022 Blog Hop where I am featuring the Iconic dies and simplicity with a repetitive fern pattern and splatter background.
This color challenge of earthy colors seemed a perfect mix for the Iconic Dies. I love the organic vibe of this set, and thought it would be a great pairing. I decided to focus on the beautiful detail of the fern die, and created a simplistic card to really let it shine!
The subtle splatter background is just enough to provide a little pop of color and shimmer behind the ferns. To create the splatter, pick up ink on a Water Painter and flick bristles on the edge of it’s cap to create splatter. I used this same technique for the Wink of Stella shimmer. It is hard to see in the picture, but is is a lovely shimmery speckle background.
The sentiment is stamped in the same color ink as the splatter background to pull it through the project. And this little sentiment….it is from one of my favorite bundles, Many Messages. Stamp once, die cut once, and you have a bunch of adorable sentiment pieces to use on projects!
Look how cute the different shapes are, and the stitching detail on so many of these!
Last chance for these supplies!
The 2021-2022 Annual Catalog Last Chance List has been released, and most of the items used on today’s project are on this list! The Iconic Dies, Many Messages stamp set, Messages Dies, Bumblebee cardstock, and the adorable Metallic Pearls. All of these products are while supplies last – so grab yours before they sell out! Bumblebee is one of the five retiring In Colors. Anything in these color will also be retiring on May 2nd!
To create this project:
- cut a 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ Thick Basic White card base, score at 4 1/4″
- Basic White layer 3 3/4″ x 5
- 3 ferns from colored cardstock
- a sentiment label
Using a Water Painter, splatter Bermuda Bay ink on front layer, then splatter Wink of Stella. Let Dry. Die cut three ferns from coordinating cardstock. Adhere to front layer. Stamp sentiment in Bermuda Bay ink on Basic White cardstock and die cut. Adhere a piece of twine to back of sentiment and adhere sentiment to card front with dimensionals. Rough up edges of layer with fingernail, and adhere to card front with dimensionals. Embellish as desired with Metallic Pearls.
