Luv 2 Stamp Blog Hop & Creative Backgrounds

Welcome back!  I hope you are enjoying the Luv 2 Stamp Blog Hop!  Throughout the week, we are each presenting projects featuring products from the Occasions catalog.  My projects feature the High Tide stamp set.

Creating backgrounds with the High Tide stamp set

I had so much fun creating with this set, but I wanted to make some projects without a lighthouse, or beach scene.  My favorite stamp in the set is the water stamp.  As soon as I saw it, I thought it would make a great background, so that got me thinking about using multiple stamps in this set to create some cool backgrounds.  Today, I am featuring 2 cards using High Tide to create backgrounds.  I loved creating with this set!  And creating non-lighthouse cards makes it even better!  Don't you think?

For the WOW! graduation card, I used the water stamp, the light beam, and the sun stamp to create a fun background and exclamation point.  I paired it with the Large Letter Framelits, from the Annual catalog, and the Sunshine Sayings stamp set, also from the Annual catalog, for the sentiment.  Everything is better with bling, so I used gold glimmer paper for the letters.  The card was made using the school colors of the special to-be recipient.

For the Congrats card, I used the sun stamp again, stamped repeatedly in different colors, to create the polka dot white banner.  I paired that with the Sunshine Wishes Thinlets.  Again, I used gold glimmer paper to die cut the sentiment, and added some gold metallic shapes for good measure.

Luv 2 Stamp Group Blog Hop

Welcome back!  Today I am sharing another project using the really fun High Tide stamp set from the Occasions catalog.

High Tide Stamp Set and Neutrals Designer Series Paper Stack

I belong to the Luv 2 Stamp Group as my Stampin' Up! family.  It is full of fun, creative people that enjoy creating and sharing together.  We have group meetings, and because we are spread all over the US, we meet online to share.  These events are fun!  I was fortunate to not only share this project with the group during our recent event, but also at Stampin' Up! On Stage a few months ago as it's debut. You may remember this sneak peak, or perhaps this one, which I blogged about back in December, using this set as well.  I am just sayin', this set is really fun to create with!  Once I started working with it, the projects came together in a snap!

This card is a perfect masculine birthday, congratulations, or thinking of you card. Those can be hard to come by!  It is simple stamping, and layered nicely using this awesome stripe from the Neutrals Designer Series Paper stack.

To Recreate this Card

Start with a card base of Basic Gray cardstock cut to 4 1/4" x 11" and scored at 5 1/5".  Add a layer of Basic Gray diagonal stripe designer series paper from the Neutrals Designer Series Paper stack, cut to 3 3/4" x 5", and set aside.  Next, stamp the lighthouse in Real Red ink on a 2 5/8" x 3 7/8" piece of Whisper White cardstock.  The sand was created using Crumb Cake ink, then some grass in Wild Wasabi.  Adhere the lighthouse scene to a 2 3/4" x 4" piece of Basic Gray cardstock.  I added Linen Thread to the top of this layer, and tied in a knot.  Adhere the lighthouse layer to your cardbase with dimensionals.  Finally, I stamped my sentiment, from the Sunburst Sayings stamp set, in Basic Black ink, on a 3/8" strip of Whisper White, than cut the ends banner style, and adhered over the bottom of the card.  That's it, hope you like it!

A Special Valentine with Layering Love

With Valentine's day coming up, we are all looking to have something for that special someone.  I have been busy making valentine's for my kids to share, but took some time to create a special card for my Valentine.

Layering Love with Real Red Glitter embossing powder and Sweet & Sassy framelits

I love the large sentiments in the stamp set Layering Love from the annual catalog.  They make a great focal point, and with little else, make it easy to pull a card together quickly.  I jazzed this one up a bit with all kinds of glimmer for the special occasion. The Real Red and Emerald Envy Glitter Embossing Powder, which carried over from the holiday catalog, is simply gorgeous.  It pairs beautifully with our glimmer papers.  I couldn't resist using it for this valentine.  Change up the colors on this card to silver, gold or all white, and it would make a striking anniversary or wedding card.

Layering Love stamp set, Real Red glitter embossing powder and Sweet & Sassy framelits

To make this card, start with a 4 1/4" x 11" piece of thick Whisper White cardstock, scored at 5 1/2" for the card base.  Than cut a 4" x 5 1/4" layer of Whisper White for the card front.  I stamped the small heart from the Layering Love set randomly across the card front in Real Red ink.  To make the large heart, I stamped the Love sentiment with Versamark onto Shimmery White cardstock, and heat embossed using the Real Red glitter embossing powder.  Using the Sweet & Sassy framelits, I die cut the sentiment, than layered it onto a Real Red glimmer paper heart cut one size larger.  The metallic thread is one of my favorite accessories, and I had to add some silver behind my heart.  Now it was ready to be added to my card front.  But first, I tied 5/8" Silver satin ribbon around the Whisper White front layer, added a silver foil doily, than adhered my heart over it using dimensionals.  For good measure, a few rhinestones scattered on the front layer and a silver enamel heart by the sentiment finished it off nicely.  I think know he will love it!
