Welcome to the May 2021 Color Fusers Blog Hop. This month’s color challenge is full of fun bright colors. I couldn’t resist casing one of the new designer series papers, and creating my own background paper using today’s challenge colors.
For today’s card, I used a new designer paper from the Patterned Party Designer Series Paper stack as my inspiration. This paper is one of the host items from the new Annual Catalog that launches tomorrow. This paper collection is full of brightly colored patterns, including one pattern of gorgeous stripes in all different colors!
Strip Background Technique
I wanted to use those stripes on my project, but needed to use the colors of this color challenge, so I created my own, using the Strip Background Technique. It was easy to make by cutting 1/4″ strips of cardstock in all 4 colors, and adhering them to a piece of Basic White Cardstock. I left a bit of space between the strips so the white could show through.
After getting all the strips secured in place, I used the new Scalloped Contours dies and die cut the largest rectangle. I cut that rectangle in half and used the 2 pieces to create today’s cards in different color combos.
The new Color & Contour Bundle is sure to be a hit. The coordinating dies are ah-mazing! All the rectangles have different edge detail, and I just love them. Today’s project uses the largest die, which is a full decorative front layer when not cut in half. I love that!
The Tasteful Textile Embossing Folder was perfect for the subtle background behind the bold stripes.
I love how the colors just pop! And did you notice the beautiful new Genial Gems Embellishments? They are beautiful! You might not be able to see it, but there are flecks of gold inside the gems!
To create this project:
cut a 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ card base and score at 4 1/4″
cut a 4″ x 5 1/4″ coordinating front layer
die cut a piece of cardstock with the largest die after completing the strip technique
die cut the smallest die in Basic White
Emboss the front layer with the Tasteful Textures 3D embossing folder. Wrap ribbon around layer and tie a twine bow around ends. Adhere layer to card front. Cut your large strip rectangle in. half, and adhere one piece to card front. Stamp sentiment in coordinating ink and add to card front. Embellish as desired with Genial Gems embellishments.
Give it a try!
What I love about today’s technique is it is a perfect way to use up scraps. Once you cover a piece of Basic White paper, you can use it as is or use dies or punches to create whatever shape you would like for your project.
Thank you for joining the Color Fusers May 2021 color challenge using Poppy parade, Flirty Flamingo, Pool Party and Bumblebee with the strip background technique.

Friendly Flamingo meets Polished Pink! This bundle pairs perfectly with the new In Color Polished Pink, to create perfect flamingos. Add in some accents using the Scalloped Contours Dies, and I have some great cards to share with you today!
This week for Friday Focus on my Facebook page, I finally got to play with the adorable Friendly Flamingo stamp set and Flamingo Dies. It was perfect timing with the release of the new In Colors, which include Polished Pink — it is a perfect match! The distinctive images on the stamp set are beautiful, and I love the flamingo die with the coordinating wings.
For the first card, I worked with a classic pink and black color combo. The flamingo die, with coordinating wing dies, makes a great focal point in Polished Pink. I created a soft water scene, and pulled it all together with Black Glittered Ribbon and Matte Black Dots.
And did you notice the new Polished Pink Designer Series Paper?
The second card is a great mix of old and new. I pulled in the retiring Forever Greenery Designer Paper and combo trim pack. The Forever Greenery Designer Paper is done in all the Stampin’ Up! greens, and there are several really great patterns which coordinate with the flamingos. These items are only available until May 3rd, so get them before they are gone!
Pale Papaya is one of the gorgeous new In Colors. It was used to create the flowers, which were added to the greenery spray with dimensionals.
How many new products do you spy?
Can you spot all the new products on today’s cards? I could not resist using the amazing Scalloped Contours Dies on both of them! These are going to be a staple, and you are going to want them. The set includes 5 awesome rectangles, plus a large scallop edge die used on the first card, and some florals.
Thanks for stopping by today to see how Friendly Flamingo meets Polished Pink, plus great accents using Scalloped Contours Dies.
Don’t forget to sign-up for your In Color Club. RSVP ends May 3rd.
Today I am sharing the absolutely amazing 2021-2023 In Colors and quick and simple team projects made with the Flowers of Friendship stamp and punch bundle.
The In Colors are always a highlight of mine from every new Annual catalog, and this year, they are phenomenal! I love every single color.
The Flowers of Friendship Bundle is an adorable stamp and punch bundle from the new 2021 Annual catalog. As a demonstrator, one of the best perks is getting early access to products from new catalogs, and this bundle was one of those products. It worked perfectly to create some super quick & simple team meeting projects, which my team enjoyed creating together at our April team meeting. Each mini card focused on one new In Color.
The gorgeous designer series paper flowers you see are from the Pansy Petals Designer Series Paper collection. This collection blends all 5 new In Colors, plus a couple others, beautifully.
