Welcome to the July 2024 Color Fusers Blog Hop where we are sharing a really fun color challenge – black and white with a color of choice! I chose to feature a pop of red by using Poppy Parade with the Inspirational Sketches stamp set.
I love pairing reds with black and white, perhaps because red is my favorite color. Not necessarily my favorite Stampin’ Up! color, but definitely one I love. When I saw this color challenge, I knew I would keep it simple by choosing a line art stamp set with just a little coloring, to really showcase the artwork of the stamps.
The Inspirational Sketches stamp set has a unique look which I love. It is named perfectly, as it really does look sketched!
When designing this month’s project, my first thought was definitely a Basic White card base. But after thinking about it, I decided to challenge myself by using Basic Black, which completely changed up the look.
What I love most is how the Basic White label really allows the artwork to pop against the black, which sets it perfectly for the Poppy Parade watercoloring on the mushroom tops!
I used some splatters of Wink of Stella to brighten up the dark background. This allowed the woodgrain embossed layer, made with the Timber 3D Embossing Folder, to shine through.
To Create this Project
Cardbase – Basic Black cut 4 1/4″ x 11″, scored at 5 1/2″
Front layer – Basic Black cut 3 3/4″ x 5″ and embossed
Label – Basic White
Sentiment – Poppy Parade trimmed to fit
Tie white Baker’s Twine around embossed layer twice and tie a bow offset to the left. Splatter with Wink of Stella Glitter Brush, then adhere to card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Stamp image on largest rectangle die-cut white label in black ink. Watercolor image with Poppy Parade ink. Stamp sentiment on scrap of Poppy Parade cardstock and trim to size. Adhere to card front. Embellish with gems.
Thank You

Welcome to an exciting Color Fusers Blog Hop where we are featuring the new 2024-2026 In Colors and I chose my favorite summer stamp and die set, Beach Day!
New In Colors were the perfect color combo for this tropical card, and I absolutely love it! Some of the details won’t come through as well in photos, but the watercoloring, Wink of Stella, and color combo are just fun. And I kept it simple, so the colors could just pop!
The Beach Day Stamp Set and Beach Day Dies are really fun for creating all things water scene. Although the surf boards didn’t make it onto today’s project, they are absolutely adorable! And these palm trees could not be cuter!

#162799 Beach Day Die Set
I used two different coloring techniques with Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper to bring color onto the background. The first was splattering Peach Pie ink, then adding water to blend, to create an area of sunshine. A second technique is picking up ink with the large Water Painter, then adding water to apply to your background. This works great for larger areas of color. On this card, I topped off the coloring with Wink of Stella for a little extra pizazz.
The new In Colors include two greens that pair together perfectly, and set the main colors on today’s card. I used Summer Splash for the card base, and background papers, and Shy Shamrock for the Palm leaves.
And speaking of background papers, isn’t this background paper pattern beautiful? Each catalog brings four new patterns to our 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper Color Family packs, and this is my favorite pattern for this year!
To Create This Project:
Card Base of Summer Splash Cardstock cut 4 1/4″ x 11″, scored at 5 1/2″
Designer Series Paper Summer Splash in patterns of choice cut 3 3/4″ x 5″ & 1/2″ x 3 1/4″
Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper cut 3″ x 3 3/4″
Palm tree leaves die cut from Shy Shamrock Cardstock and trunk from Pecan Pie Cardstock
Sentiment Label Peach Pie Cardstock cut 2″ x 1/2″
Splatter Peach Pie Stampin’ Write Marker to corner of watercolor paper layer and blend. Add ink with large Water Painter and water for the water. Set aside to dry. Die cut palm leaves and trunk. Add Designer Series Paper to card front and the strip to watercolor paper layer. Adhere watercolored layer and palm tree to card front. Add Wink of Stella as desired. Finish the tree with a Linen Thread bow and shimmer gems for coconuts. Stamp sentiment in black ink on Peach Pie strip, then adhere to card front. Stamp sentiment inside card in black ink.
Thank You
