Color Fusers August 2025 project made with the Charming Day stamp set and Charming Day Dies, Fancy Borders dies and 2025-2027 In Color Flat Pearls. Card designed and created by Melanie Hockin of Mel's Inky Fingers. Color challenge colors Darling Duckling, Basic Gray and Basic White.

Welcome to the August Color Fusers blog hop! Today I am sharing an elegant project created with the Charming Day bundle, Fancy Border dies, and ribbon fringe.

Thanks for hopping with us today as the Color Fusers design team shares another great color challenge! You can hop around the world with us the first Monday of each month, as we use the same color challenge to create something fun to share!

I love the large die cut element from the Charming Day dies, so I featured it by creating the background on today’s project. This is always a fun way to use amazing die cuts, and so easy!

To dress it up a bit, I thought a beautiful border would work well with the elegance of the die cuts. The Fancy Border dies were perfect for this! And if you look closely, I actually cut a Darling Duckling Designer Series Paper layer as well, to create a layered border.

Now, here is where I went a bit rogue…..Because I can’t help myself and love ribbon on my projects, I created a ribbon fringe. To fray the ribbon, I cut the long edge off the ribbon, then pulled the strands. I tied a bow with the strands, and used the fringed ribbon as a layer behind the die cut element. What do you think? Do you like the fringe?

To Create This Project

  • 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″ Thick Basic White Card Base
  • 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″ Basic White with Adhesive Sheet on the back for die cutting (4) floral die cuts
  • 1-1/2″ x 5-1/2″ Basic White for border layer
  • 1-1/2″ x 5-1/2″ Darling Duckling Designer Series Paper for border layer
  • 1-1/2″ x 1/2″ Basic Gray for sentiment

Adhere floral die cuts to card front. Trim overhang, and use pieces to fill in as needed. Layer border pieces. Cut the long edge off a 10″ piece of Darling Duckling ribbon. Tie a bow with the strands. Adhere the frayed ribbon to the edge of the decorative border. Trim with scissors as needed, then adhere border to card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Heat emboss sentiment in white on Basic Gray piece. Trim down and adhere to card front. Adhere bow and embellish with pearls as desired. Stamp sentiment inside card in Basic Gray ink.
