Thank you for joining us today for the Color Fusers May 2022 blog hop where I am featuring a diorama card made with the Paradise Palms stamp bundle and ink blending technique.
As soon as I saw this month’s color combination, I thought beach, and knew exactly what I wanted to share with you!
The Paradise Palms stamp set and Palms dies coordinate, and provide the tools to create amazing beach scenes.
Blended Ink Background
To create this background, I used Blending Brushes, and the color challenge colors. Blending Brushes are may favorite way to add ink to backgrounds. They give you great control over color intensity and the ability for smooth color transition. Simply apply ink to the brush, and make small circular motions to apply the ink in light layers. Continue to build up color until you reach your desired color intensity.
For this background, I chose not to blend it entirely smooth, to represent the color variation of the sky.
The key to successful color blending is to use light pressure on the brush, and start your circular motion off the edge of your cardstock, so you don’t get blotchy color on your project.
And what do you think of the texture on this front layer, isn’t it neat? I used the Painted Texture 3D Embossing Folder.
To create this card:
- use a 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ Balmy Blue card base scored at 4 1/4″
- cut a 4″ x 5 1/4″ piece of Balmy Blue for the embossed front layer
- use a 3 3/4″ x 5″ piece of Basic White for stamping and ink blending
- prepare one Balmy Blue label
Using a Blending Brush, add color to the white layer. Stamp trees in Memento Black, and beach in Crumb Cake, then adhere to card front. Die cut a diorama opening from the Balmy Blue layer, then emboss with embossing folder of choice. Adhere over stamping using dimensionals. Stamp sentiment in Memento Black ink on a die cut label. Add Linen Thread to back of sentiment piece and adhere to card front. Embellish as desired using Faux Sea Glass Shapes.

Thank you Diana! So glad you like it. These are fun dies.
What a great card, one I would love to CASE. I really like the set back picture and the use of the Diorama die to create the upper layer and give the effect of the ocean. Your choice of sentiment and the layout for that also adds a great deal of contrast to the card. Well done!
Thank you so much Penny, I am glad you enjoyed this card! I hope you enjoy CASEing it.
