Color Fusers March 2021 Blot Hop Color Challenge featuring Seaside Spray, Gray Granite, and Early Espresso as seen on project by Melanie Hockin of Mel's Inky Fingers.

This month’s color challenge seemed perfect for creating a beach scene or masculine card. I love the Seaside View stamp set, but had not used it yet, so it was time to ink it up and create a beach scene. The softness of this color combination was fun to work with, and worked perfectly for simple watercoloring on this card.

With summer just around the corner, a casual beach scene is a nice reminder of what’s to come! So I selected the nice relaxing chair image for my scene. And the line art made it a perfect choice to watercolor.

Fun Coloring Tools

The Water Painters in the Annual Catalog are a must have tool. The sizes work perfectly for almost any project! For today’s project, I used the narrowest tip water brush.

I started by adding a watercolor wash in Seaside Spray for the sky, and a very diluted wash of Early Espresso for the sand. After it dried, I added Early Espresso to the chair, and Gray Granite to the table. A little Seaside Spray was perfect for the glass.
